I started my weekend off with a band playing glam rock covers in a pub on Friday night, and I end it on Sunday night in much the same way. Friday night was a band playing 70's music to a casual pub crowd, many of whom would have been there regardless of who was playing. Sunday at Nambucca see's a far more dedicated and up for it crowd of glamsters.  This is the second time that Rachel Stamp's David Ryder Prangley has put his Glam Rock Youth Club event on at this venue - the previous one being the highly successful New Year's Eve party. Tonight's is less well attended but fun all the same. It's only £3 on the door - less than the price of a pint. Bargain! And the venue has real ale on tap - what's not to like? For next to no money you get Cobretti playing 80's Glam covers, Simon Price on DJ duties, and DRP & friends playing 70's Glam covers.

A lot of people only turn up in time for the headline act, but there is a decent crowd in the end. Nice atmospere too - although it's a very different venue, Nambucca is certainly helping fill the gap left when The Gaff closed down the road earlier this year. A lot of the crowd are familiar faces from rock haunts like the Intrepid Fox and Decadence - in fact the bass player in the main band is none other than Decadence DJ and mainman Shuff. And drummer Belle is also a well known DJ at the club as well as also playing drums for Killing Miranda and Lilygun.

Also on guitar (and some vocals) alongside DRP tonight is ex-Flesh For Lulu and current member of Urban Voodoo Machine Nick Marsh.

It's a good fun night, and the best value for money gig I've been to for ages - and even with the tube stopping earlier on Sunday nights it finishes early enough to get the train home.
PS: This venue closed in early 2014.
