This is a gig I'd really been looking forward to for a few months. Unfortunately I couldn't get to the 100 Club until Dirty Love were playing their last song.Tokyo Dragons were on next.

I enjoyed their set as usual, but unfortunately this was the last time I'll have the chance to do so as they have decided to split up and this is their last ever UK show.

The boys certainly went out on a high though.  They will be missed.

Girlschool were the first all girl rock band to really make it, and they have outlasted all their peers - and then some... There have been a few ups and downs along the way, a few lineup changes, and the tragic death last year of Kelly Johnson their much missed original lead guitarist. However, as the band celebrate their 30th aniversary they are back to as near as can ever be possible to the 'classic' early Girlschool lineup that recorded the first two albums. The current version of the band is is my humble opinion the best it's been since those early days.

There couldn't possibly be a more appropriate person to take over lead guitar duties from the late Kelly than Jackie Chambers. She manages to combine glamour with a punk rock heart and soul with fits in perfectly with the band.

I'm sure Kim McAuliffe looks younger than last time I saw the band - they certainly don't look like a band who've been going for 30 years!

Apologies if my pictures seem biased towards Jackie, but this sold out show was so packed that I couldn't really move about much to get pictures of the rest of the band. Hopefully there will be a bit more room at the band's December show in a larger venue.

This show was a good mix of old and new with plenty of songs from the band's first three albums, as well as a good few from the more recent two. We also got a couple of tasters from the forthcoming album 'Legacy' which promises to be a bit of a treat!
