A fairly 'spur of the moment' decision to go to a gig this Wednesday night and Honeykill give me an excuse to check out another new venue. This time it's Cuban in Camden. I'm slightly dubious about going to another venue in Stables Market after the recent Towers Of London fiasco (not the band's fault) at the Proud Gallery! However, I arrive at Cuban and am pleasantly surprised, although this isn't really a 'rock' venue - it's free admission for a start. Although it bill's itself as a sort of cocktail bar, there is beer on tap as well as various bottled beers - unfortunately not including anything I'd actually want to drink like Newcastle Brown or Fullers ESB. The Guinness was off too, so I had to resort to a pint of Kroneneburg - fortunately not too outrageously priced at £3.10. The venue was quite comfortable (but not as much as Bullet Bar) and not too poncey like these places often are.

The place wasn't that busy this midweek night. There were a girl performing a solo acoustic set when I arrived. A few people turned up to see Honeykill, but as soon as they started played most the people anywhere near the stage ran for cover - they weren't prepared for anything with LOUD GUITARS!

The sound from the small PA was surprisingly clear, although I was told later that the sound on stage left a lot to be desired. Honeykill played a short but sweet 25 minute set which seemed to go down pretty well with those present.

I was planning to leave after Honeykill's set, but another band started setting up so I stayed to check them out. It was worth staying as Cherrybomb had some decent tunes and played them enthusiastically.

A worthwhile night out with two bands and a solo singer for free in Camden - it breaks the week up nicely.
