Two gigs in one night, for the second night running - it would have been three gigs in one night if Rockworkz had been playing at Bar Monsta I arrived at the World's End to find Dead Seed only had about half an hour or so left to play. The place was busier than last time - maybe because Rockworkz weren't playing round the corner this time. It was good to hear a band cover some Metallica that wasn't 'Enter Sandman' for a change and they knocked out decent versions of 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' and Seek And Destroy'. There were some  drunken kids down at the front pushing each other about and not bothering if they knocked into people.  Drinks were getting spilt and glass broken - I was getting a bit pissed off having to fend these fuckwits off when I was trying to enjoy the music so I wasn't having a particularly good time even though the band were playing songs I liked. People were getting fed up and the atmosphere wasn't the best so I wasn't that sad when the band finished.

Then it was off to the Witheredprunes pub in Chalk Farm Road to see Metalworkz. In spite of it being a fiver on the door there was a good crowd in there. One good effect of charging to get in is that the place is full of real rock fans rather than the mixture in the World's End which also includes a chavish element of kids who like to act like they like metal when they are out with their mates, but wouldn't actually bother paying to see a band. Consequently, the atmosphere in this pub is much better. The band are better too - the band down the road are all good musicians, but it seems a bit like they make the setlist up as they go along and swap band members over to allow their mates to have a go - it's almost karaoke like as they change about between songs. Metalworkz seem far more like an actual band, although they do swap vocalists for a while. You get what you pay for I guess. Another nice thing about this gig is that there are plenty of familiar faces around - including Toxic Slut - not just the one or two band members I bump into at gigs now and then, but a rare sighting of the whole band! Even better - they tell me that they actually have a gig soon. About bloody time too!

I don't have work in the morning, so don't have to worry about catching the last train or anything which is nice. The Toxic Sluts are up for more booze fueled rocking as well, so as Marina informs me there is supposed to be an aftershow going on at Bar Monsta for some old 1980's band that was playing at the Underworld earlier in the evening we all head off down there at chucking out time. We arrive around 1.30 to find house music or something going on instead - apparently not that many people appeared for the aftershow so they knocked it on the head early.  None of us can stand the music playing in the bar even if it will be open til three in the morning so we decide to cut our losses and head home. A good Sunday night out all the same.
